The 2023 IBIS mountain bike lineup is outlined below, to give you an idea of what’s on offer.
We have tried to organize this in such a way that it makes it easier to narrow down your options, depending on the type of mountain biking and the type of mountain bike you’re looking for.
We have grouped Ibis’ Mountain Bikes into the categories that we see them best fitting in. And included a few specs that might factor into what you’re looking for.
Note that some bikes might be on the cuff between two categories, e.g. XC and Trail. We have put them where we see them fitting best, but these aren’t completely black and white and you could certainly make an argument for some to be within another category or span two categories.
IBIS 2023 MTB COLLECTION BY CATEGORY
Below is the 2023 ibis mountain bike collection categorized. This is according to the categories here at MTbprofiles and may not align exactly with how ibis has labeled them. There is a total of 34 bikes classified below. Note that we only classify their mountain bikes and not other types of bikes that they might produce.
IBIS Cross Country (XC) Bikes
We considered the DV9 to be close to being Trail, but felt it fit the XC category better. The head tube angle of 66.5° is more XC for us and the 120mm of travel might be on the highend for XC, but still within range. The tire width is a little wider than what we'd typically associate with XC, but given it's a hard tail (note that we will sometimes classify hard tails as trail bikes, depending on other factors), we felt overall it was better classed as XC.
NAME OF BIKE | PRICE | CATEGORY | suspension | electric | wheel size | tire width | travel |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
DV9 DEORE | $3,499 | XC | Hard Tail | No | 29" | 2.4" | 120mm |
DV9 GX | $3,499 | XC | Hard Tail | No | 29" | 2.4" | 120mm |
DV9 SLX | $3,999 | XC | Hard Tail | No | 29" | 2.4" | 120mm |
DV9 XT | $4,899 | XC | Hard Tail | No | 29" | 2.4" | 120mm |
DV9 GX AXS | $5,299 | XC | Hard Tail | No | 29" | 2.4" | 120mm |
DV9 XX SL AXS | $8,699 | XC | Hard Tail | No | 29" | 2.4" | 120mm |
IBIS Trail Bikes
For the EXIE and EXIE USA, there were some aspects that felt more XC, but overall it's pretty solidly Trail to us. Whilst the head tube angle (67.2) feels more XC to us, the rest of the specs give us a distinctly Trail bike feel. The clincher was the Dual Suspension.
We had a harder time classifying the Ripmo/Ripmo AF. Being right at the upper limit in front suspension for a Trail bike (how we would classify one) but right at the lower limit for Enduro, plus being right in the middle for both for tire size, and being in range for both for head tube angle (by our category definitions), it was tough to choose between Trail and Enduro. We only went Trail because the Head Tube angle was right in the middle of the range for Trail and at the upper limit for Enduro. But if you wanted to call the Ripmo/Ripmo AF Enduro bikes, you wouldn't be wrong either, in our opinion.

IBIS Downhill Bikes
Nothing strictly fits this category from ibis, in our opinion, though the HD6 gets close.
Breakdown Summary
To simplify the above classification further, to get a wider lens view of ibis' bikes:
XC
- DV9 series
Trail
- EXIE series
- EXIE USA series
- Ripley series
- Ripley AF series
- Ripmo series
- Ripmo AF series
Enduro
- HD6 series
- OSO series (eMTB)
So whilst there are 34 models total, including build variations, there are just 9 different series (8 regular and 1 eMTB series). And if you coupled the Exie/Exie USA, the Ripley/Ripley AF and Ripmo/Ripmo AF, then you really come down to 6 main series.
LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK
Hopefully this has helped to see the ibis lineup in an easy to digest way.
Are there any bikes above that you think should be categorized differently?
As noted above we certainly debated a couple of models as to which category they best fit in. The hardest call to make was on the Ripmo and Ripmo AF. Could very easily call them Enduro bikes, in our opinion.
Also, if you’ve ever ridden an ibis mountain bike, would love to hear your thoughts on that, too.
